Late Rally Not Meant to be in Valentine's Loss to Americans' Power Play

TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Anaheim Ducks and the AHL's San Diego Gulls, and powered by Community Care, lost 5-3 to the Allen Americans on Saturday night at the BOK Center.

Both teams left the opening period scoreless, with Allen outshooting Tulsa 11-10. ß

The Allen Americans professed their love to the man advantage in the second period on Valentine's Day, scoring four power-play goals in the frame. Sam Stange got the scoring started, converting 1:17 into the period with 2:23 remaining on Roman Kinal's major penalty. Harrison Blaisdell scored a second on the five-minute power play, redirecting the puck past Vyacheslav Buteyets less than a minute later. Blaisdell scored a second of the frame, putting the Americans up 3-0 with 7:20 left in the second period. Colton Hargrove scored the Americans' fourth power-play goal of the middle period at the 15:59 mark, ending Buteyets night with a one-time blast over the shoulder.

Tyrell Goulbourne scored his second goal in as many games, a backdoor tap in on the power play 12:09 into the final period, dropping Allen's lead to 4-1. Goulbourne followed up with his second of the frame less than a minute later, cutting the lead in half to 4-2. Duggie Lagrone also scored his second goal in back-to-back games, making it a one-goal game, 4-3, with 4:50 remaining. Sam Stange scored Allen's fifth power-play goal - an empty netter - with 13 seconds remaining.

Tulsa and Allen square off tomorrow, Feb. 15 for a rubber match at the BOK Center at 3:05 p.m.
