Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans lost to the Wichita Thunder by a score of 4-3 on Sunday night, in front of a crowd of 4,911, at Allen Event Center.
In a game that saw over 90 penalty minutes handed out, the Wichita Thunder escape Allen with a 4-3 shootout win. The Americans outplayed the Thunder for the majority of the contest, but for a second night in a row, Wichita battled back to tie the game and eventually grab the lead. Tyler Ludwig evened the score for Allen with a power play goal late in the third, with a blast from the left point to make it a 3-3 game. Neither team would score in overtime, meaning the game would be settled in a shootout for a second night in a row.
The Thunder would out score Allen 2-1 in the shootout to grab the two points and the win, for their first victory of the season. Kale Kerbashian was the only Allen player to beat goalie Taylor Nelson in the shootout. Nelson earned the first star of the night, stopping 38 of 41 shots.
For Allen, Ross Rouleau would net his first goal as an American and he also picked up an assist on Tyler Ludwig's power play goal. Alex Lavoie also scored his first of the season. The Americans took three out of a possible four points from Wichita on the weekend, and are now off until Friday when they travel to St Charles to meet the expansion Chill.
