Americans Announce Retirement of Successful WHL Scout
June 12, 2023 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Tri-City Americans News Release
Kennewick, WA - Tri-City Americans' Assistant General Manager and Head Scout, Roy Stasiuk, today announced the retirement of Senior Scout Advisor, Ray Dudra. Dudra has spent almost 40 years spanning over five decades in the Western Hockey League, including the past six years with Tri-City.
Starting as a Regional Scout with the Medicine Hat Tigers in 1983-84, Dudra also served as Director of Player Personnel with the Spokane Chiefs, and as a Regional Scout with both the Prince Albert Raiders and Saskatoon Blades before joining the Ams in 2017.
"To have someone who has experienced success at the draft table, and a willingness to share his knowledge while mentoring some of our younger scouts, has been invaluable.", said Stasiuk. The Assistant GM added, "Ray's been a confidante, an advisor, and a friend. I can certainly understand though, his wish to spend winters in warmer locations with his wife, Jean."
Dudra says despite still enjoying his time at the rink, it is the right time to step away. "I have really enjoyed my time working with the Americans and I'm glad to see the team moving in the right direction, earning back the respect it has enjoyed for several years. Closing in on forty years, I can leave on a high note and as the proud owner of four Memorial Cup rings (1987,1988 Medicine Hat, 1991,2008 Spokane) as a measure of success to go with the enjoyment of the role."
Both Americans' General Manager, Bob Tory, and Stasiuk, would like to thank Ray for his contribution to the Americans' success, and recognize his substantial achievement in the Western Hockey League.
