
Lesiuk Signs with Hurricanes

LETHBRIDGE, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club announced Monday they have signed 2008-born forward Gavin Lesiuk to a Western Hockey League Scholarship and Development Agreement.
Lesiuk, 15, was selected by the Hurricanes in the second-round (36th overall) in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft. The Duncan, BC, product appeared in 22 regular season games with the Okanagan Hockey Academy U15 Prep team in 2022- 2023 where he collected 24 points (10g-14a) along with 52 penalty minutes. He finished ninth in team scoring last season.
The 6'3, 185-pound forward totaled five points (2g-3a) with two penalty minutes at the John Reid U15 Tournament with OHA last year. In 2021-2022, Lesiuk has six points (4g-2a) with 18 penalty minutes in 30 regular season games with the Pacific Coast Academy U15 Prep team while going pointless in three post-season games. In two seasons at the U15 level, he recorded 30 points (14g-16a) with 70 penalty minutes in 52 regular season games.
Lesiuk was teammates with fellow Hurricanes prospect Will Scott with OHA last season while spending the season prior as teammates with 'Canes goaltender Koen Cleaver at PCHA. He joins fellow second-rounder Chase Petersen and Scott to sign with the Hurricanes from the 2023 draft.
