
Niko Huuhtanen Earns Liiga's Rookie of the Year in First Pro Season

Everett Silvertips alum Niko Huuhtanen has earned the Jarmo Wasama Memorial Trophy for Rookie of the Year in Finland's Liiga.
Huuhtanen, a 19-year-old Helsinki native, led his team in goal-scoring in the 2022-23 campaign with 17 tallies in 48 games- a mark that also ranked 14th-best in the entire league. The Tampa Bay Lightning prospect finished with 30 total points in his first professional season with Jukurit.
Previously, Huuhtanen was a member of the 2021-22 Everett Silvertips where he was named the team's Rookie of the Year. He led all WHL rookies with 37 goals while also adding 40 assists in 65 games played. He also represented Finland at the 2023 World Junior Championship this season, logging two goals and an assist in five games.
