Americans Announce Craig Beauchemin as New Play-By-Play Broadcaster
February 21, 2024 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Tri-City Americans News Release
Kennewick, WA - Tri-City Americans general manager Bob Tory announced today the hiring of Craig Beauchemin as the team's new play-by-play broadcaster. His first broadcast will be Friday, February 23 against the Moose Jaw Warriors, while long-time Americans broadcaster Craig West will serve as the color commentator for the remainder of the season.
Beauchemin spent four seasons with the Swift Current Broncos (2019-2023) as the team's Broadcast and Community Relations Manager. In that role he provided play-by-play for all Broncos games, assisted in the team's content creation, served as the media contact for the organization and scheduled community events for the team.
"I am beyond excited to be joining the Americans organization," said Beauchemin. "This is a franchise that has both a rich history and a bright future. I'm extremely grateful to Bob Tory, Stu Barnes and the rest of the ownership group for this opportunity. I also want to thank Craig West for being a friend and mentor to me over the last number of years. I look forward to sharing my passion for junior hockey with the fans who have supported this team for decades."
Prior to his time in the WHL Beauchemin held similar positions with the British Columbia Hockey League's Penticton Vees and Powell River Kings. His first broadcasting job came with the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League's Battlefords North Stars in the 2015-16 season.
"Craig is an experienced play-by-play broadcaster and will add to our fan experience on the broadcast," said Tory. "We welcome him to our Americans family."
Born and raised in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada, Beauchemin attended Loyalist College in Belleville, Ontario. He graduated from the college's radio broadcasting program before enrolling in the sports journalism post-grad program.
