Wichita 15, Winnipeg 4
The visiting Wichita Wingnuts plated seven runs in the top of the first as they went on to rout the Winnipeg Goldeyes 15-4. Wingnuts 1B Carlos Rivera homered twice and had three RBIs for Wichita. Rivera went 5-for-6 at the plate and scored five runs. Wingnuts DH Jorge Delgado went 5-for-6 with three RBIs, two doubles and two runs scored, and C Edwin Bellorin had two hits and three RBIs. Third baseman Juan Richardson went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored for Wichita. Wingnuts starting pitcher Derek Blacksher tossed five innings, allowing four runs on nine hits to earn the win. For the Goldeyes, 1B Luis Alen went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in the loss.
Sioux City 7, Sioux Falls 6 (12 Innings)
Sioux City C Ray Serrano's RBI double in the top of the twelfth inning gave the Explorers a 7-6 victory over the Sioux Falls Pheasants. The RBI double was Serrano's only hit of the game but proved to be the most important hit of the game. Explorers 1B Kent Sakamoto and LF TJ Bohn each had two RBIs in the game. Bohn went 3-for-6 at the plate with a triple and a run scored, and Sakamoto had two hits and two runs scored. The Explorers scored one in the first and plated five in the top of the third to take a 6-2 lead. The Pheasants pegged back three runs in the fourth inning on LF Mark Shorey's two-run home run and 2B Hunter Jobes' solo home run. The Pheasants tied the game with a run in the fifth inning. Neither team scored again until Serrano's RBI double in the twelfth. Explorers reliever Emiliano Fruto worked five scoreless relief innings to earn the win.
Lincoln 6, Kansas City 3
The Lincoln Saltdogs scored two runs in the second inning and added three more in the third inning to defeat the Kansas City T-Bones 6-3. Lincoln C Jeff Howell had a team-high two RBIs in the game and went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and two runs scored. Also for Lincoln, 2B Joe Ramos doubled, batted in a run and scored a run, and CF Kurt Steinhauer and RF Jorge Cortes each batted in a run. Saltdogs starter Jeremy Brewer worked five innings to earn the win. Brewer conceded two runs on six hits while striking out five hitters. Saltdogs closer PJ Zocchi worked a scoreless ninth to earn the save. For the T-Bones, DH Jim Fasano homered and batted in two runs in the loss.
Fort Worth 11, Amarillo 5
The Fort Worth Cats tallied at least one run in every inning except the fifth frame, as they rolled past the Amarillo Sox for an 11-5 win. Cats RF Marcos Rodriguez batted in five runs and went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate. Rodriguez hit a two-run homer and also had an RBI double in the game. Also for Fort Worth, SS Cory Morales went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored, and DH John Allen doubled twice, batted in a run and scored twice. Cats starting pitcher Aaron Cunningham allowed two earned runs on six hits in five innings pitched to earn the win. For Amarillo, DH Tim Alberts homered and scored twice in a losing effort.
Fargo-Moorhead 6, St. Paul 3
In front of a capacity crowd of 4,706 at Fargo-Moorhead's Newman Outdoor Field, the RedHawks defended their home field, defeating the St. Paul Saints 6-3. The home team got out to a hot start, plating three runs in the first inning and adding another run in the second. RedHawks CF Nic Jackson went 2-for-4 at the plate and had two RBIs and two runs scored. Second baseman Carlo Cota went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Fargo-Moorhead, and SS Zach Penprase and DH Jesse Hoorelbeke also batted in a run each. RedHawks reliever Joe Harris worked 5.1 scoreless innings in relief to earn the save, scattering four hits and fanning six hitters. For St. Paul, LF Aharon Eggleston had two RBIs in the loss.
