Milwaukee 5, Fargo-Moorhead 4 - Box Score
Shortstop Sam Dexter singled home DH Dan Ward in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Milwaukee a 5-4 walk-off victory over Fargo-Moorhead.
Ward led off the ninth with a single. After, the next batter, 3B Jose Rosario, struck out, C Christ Conley came to the plate and was hit by a pitch. With runners on first and second and one out, Dexter walked to the dish and delivered the game winning base hit to give the Milkmen the big win.
Ward went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI while Conley and Dexter each collected a pair of hits and a run batted in.
Milwaukee reliever Jake Joyce tossed two innings of work and grabbed the victory. The 28-year-old allowed two earned runs and walked three in the nine batters he faced. With the win, Joyce is now 1-1 on the season.
Kansas City 4, Lincoln 2 (Game 1 - 7 innings) - Box Score
Trailing 1-0 through 5 ½ innings of play, Kansas City plated all four of their runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 4-1 lead and would go on from there to beat Lincoln, 4-2.
Kansas City had eight hits in the game and was led by 2B Dylan Tice who went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. T-Bones DH Roy Morales scored a run in a 1-for-2 night while 1B Chris Colabello and LF Casey Gillaspie each contributed a hit in three at-bats along with a run and an RBI.
Starting pitcher Akeem Bostick tossed six solid innings and picked-up the victory. The righty allowed an earned run on four hits and struck a pair of Saltdog batters. With the win, Bostick is now 2-0 on the season.
Shortstop Christian Ibarra had a 1-for-2 outing and scored a run.
Kansas City 1, Lincoln 0 (Game 2 - 7 Innings) - Box Score
Kansas City completed the doubleheader sweep of Lincoln as they defeated the Saltdogs in game two by a 1-0 score.
T-Bones starting pitcher Jose Mesa, Jr. and reliever Robert Calvano combined on a three-hit shutout. Mesa, Jr. went the first six innings allowing two walks and the three hits with fanning eight batters in a 96-pitch performance. Calvano tossed the seventh inning and struck out one of the three hitters he faced. Mesa, Jr. earned the win and is now 3-2 while Calvano nabbed his second save.
Offensively for Kansas City, SS Shawn O'Malley led the way going 2-for-3 with a run scored. T-Bones C Roy Morales had a 1-for-2 night while RF Danny Mars tallied a hit and walked twice. Kansas City scored their only run in the third inning.
Sioux Falls 20, Texas 5 - Box Score
Sioux Falls put on a big offensive show at Sioux Falls Stadium tonight as they rolled past Texas by the final of 20-5.
The Canaries pounded out 21 hits in the contest with seven batters having multi-hit games. Sioux Falls SS Andrew Ely led the way going 3-for-6 with two doubles, three runs scored and four RBIs. Canaries 1B Mitch Glasser scored three runs and drove in two in a 2-for-4 night while CF Brett Vertigan and C Clint Coulter each had three hits and scored a combined six runs.
Sioux Falls scored in every inning except the first and the eighth, including eight runs in the second. The Canaries also had a total of nine doubles in the game.
Starting pitcher Tyler Herron tossed eight innings of work and grabbed his first win of the season. Herron (1-1) gave up four earned runs and fanned five batters.
St. Paul 5, Gary SouthShore 2 - Box Score
St. Paul won its eighth game in a row as they beat Gary SouthShore by a final of 5-2. The Saints scored a pair of runs in the sixth inning to take a 3-2 lead and they would cruise from there to the big win.
There were nine hits collected by St. Paul with 2B Josh Allen leading the way going 3-for-5 with a run scored and two RBIs. Saints DH Brady Shoemaker had two hits in four at-bats along with a run scored while 1B John Silviano drew two walks and drove in a run in a 1-for-2 night.
St. Paul pitcher Chris Lee threw 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief and nabbed the victory. The southpaw allowed a walk and a hit while fanning four in a 36-pitch performance. Lee is now 1-0 on the season with the victory.
Shortstop Marcus Mooney had a perfect 2-for-2 night at the plate with a pair of RBIs.
Winnipeg 14, Chicago 4 - Box Score
Winnipeg scored seven runs in the fifth inning to take a commanding 8-3 lead and would go on from there to a huge 14-4 victory over Chicago.
The Goldeyes had nine batters in their lineup that picked-up at least one hit. Winnipeg RF Willy Garcia led the way offensively going 2-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and four RBIs. Goldeyes 3B Wes Darvill had a three-hit game with three runs and an RBI while CF Reggie Abercrombie tallied a run and drove in two in a 2-for-5 night. Left fielder Tyler Marincov and SS Adrian Marin also helped the Winnipeg by each picking up a pair of hits.
Goldeyes starting pitcher Kevin Hilton allowed three earned runs over 6 2/3 innings of work and notched his first with the team. Hilton gave up four hits and five walks in a 95-pitch outing.
For the Dogs, 3B Jordan Dean went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Sioux City 5, Cleburne 3 - Box Score
Sioux City took game one of a huge three-game series with Cleburne as they beat the Railroaders by a 5-3 final. With their victory and the Kansas City doubleheader sweep, the Explorers and T-Bones are now tied for second in the South Division.
There were three multi-hit batters in the Sioux City lineup including 2B Drew Stankiewicz who went 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs. Explorers CF Kyle Wren scored a pair of runs in a 2-for-4 night while RF Jeremy Hazelbaker had three hits in four at-bats, including a home run. In total, Sioux City had 10 hits in the contest.
Explorers starter Eric Karch threw 5 1/3 innings of work and picked-up his fifth win of the season. The Pepperdine University product allowed three earned runs on six hits and struck out four batters. Sioux City closer Matt Pobereyko tossed a scoreless ninth inning and earned his 24th save.
