Grand Prairie 4, Fort Worth 2

Grand Prairie scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning en route to a 4-2 win against Fort Worth at QuikTrip Park. The Cats scored in the top of the third inning when right fielder Marcos Rodriguez singled and drove in shortstop Cory Morales, and Grand Prairie followed with a run of its own in the bottom of the inning. Fort Worth scored again in the top of the fourth inning when first baseman Trent Lockwood hit a solo home run. In the bottom of the fourth inning, right fielder Greg Porter had a home run of his own, and center fielder Danny Figueroa and second baseman David Espinosa batted in two more runs to seal the deal for Grand Prairie. Left fielder David Thomas led the AirHogs with three hits and two runs in three at-bats. Fort Worth had a total of eight hits in the game, and Rodriguez and Lockwood had two hits each for the Cats. David Nathanson, now 1-2 on the season, earned the win by allowing seven hits, two runs and striking out three in seven innings pitched.

Amarillo 14, Shreveport-Bossier 13

Shreveport-Bossier scored six runs in the top of the first inning, but Amarillo caught up and edged the Captains 14-13 at Amarillo National Bank Sox Stadium. Amarillo had five of its 17 total hits in the first inning, and four different Sox recorded three hits in the game. Second baseman Matthew Tucker led the Sox with three hits and four runs in four at-bats, and Amarillo left fielder Lee Cruz and designated hitter Tim Alberts each had three hits and two runs in the game. The Sox were scoreless after the first two frames, but began to catch up in the third, fourth and fifth innings, and Amarillo trailed 7-4 after the fifth. The Sox sealed the deal with five runs in each of the seventh and eighth innings. Shreveport-Bossier scored a run in the top of the ninth when designated hitter Palmer Karr Jr. batted in center fielder Robert Perry, but it wasn't enough to top the Captains. Corey Bass earned his third win of the season, allowing four hits, three runs and striking out none in two innings pitched.

Sioux City 13, Fargo-Moorhead 1

Sioux City pitcher Nick Schumacher, now 4-4 on the season, led the Explorers to a 13-1 win against Fargo-Moorhead at Lewis & Clark Park, allowing just two hits, no runs and striking out 11 in 7.2 innings pitched. The RedHawks registered just five total hits in the game, and center fielder Nick Jackson and right fielder Michael Coles each had two hits for Fargo-Moorhead. Sioux City had six runs in the bottom of the first inning and added three more in the bottom of the third. Fargo-Moorhead remained scoreless during the first eight frames, and the RedHawks finally got on the board in the top of the ninth when first baseman Jesse Hoorelbeke singled and drove in center fielder Nic Jackson. Sioux City recorded 17 total hits in the game, and first baseman Brett Flowers led the Explorers with four hits, two runs and four RBI in four at-bats. Sioux City left 10 men on base during the game, but Fargo-Moorhead committed four errors. Kevin Fuqua earned the loss in the game, allowing five hits, six runs and walking two in one inning pitched.

Lincoln 9, El Paso 6

El Paso scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth and ninth innings, but it wasn't enough to top Lincoln, and the Saltdogs cruised to a 9-6 win against the Diablos at Cohen Stadium. Lincoln scored in the top of the first inning when first baseman Phil Hawke hit a two-run homer, and the Saltdogs added two more in each of the third and fourth innings to take a 6-2 lead against El Paso. In the top of the seventh inning, designated hitter Maikel Jova batted in another run for the Saltdogs, and catcher Jeff Howell drove in two more moments later when he hit a home run. El Paso scored the next four runs during the next two innings, but the Diablos still fell short. Four different Saltdogs had multiple hits in the game, and Hawke led Lincoln with two hits, two runs and three RBI in four at-bats. Kyle Nichols chipped in two hits, one run and three RBI in five at-bats for El Paso. James Garcia earned his first win of the season, allowing three hits, two runs and striking out three in five innings pitched.

Wichita 10, Kansas City 9

Wichita trailed Kansas City 5-0 after the sixth inning, but the Wingnuts came back in the seventh, eighth and ninth to beat the T-Bones 10-9 at Community America Ballpark. Kansas City scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning, and added one in each of the fourth and fifth innings. In the top of the seventh, catcher Edwin Bellorin and shortstop Josh Horn each batted in a run for Wichita, and in the next inning the Wingnuts added five more runs. In the top of the ninth, Wichita sealed the deal when left fielder Mike Conroy and first baseman Jorge Delgado drove in its final three runs. Wichita had 11 total hits in the game, and three different Wingnuts recorded multiple hits. Shortstop Jimmy Mojica led Kansas City with one hit, one RBI and two runs in four at-bats. Josh Dew earned his second win of the season, allowing three hits, two runs and striking out one in 1.1 innings pitched.
