Published on May 24, 2011 under American Association (AA) News Release

Gary SouthShore 4, Wichita 3 (12 innings)

1B Jeff Beachum singled home 2B Brad Boyer from third base in the bottom of the 12th inning to give Gary SouthShore a 4-3 win over Wichita. Boyer led off the 12th with a triple which was followed by a RF Cristian Guerrero walk. Beachum then singled home Boyer for the game winning run. Guerrero and CF Mike Massaro each had two hits for the RailCats. Gary SouthShore reliever Jeremy Hauer picked up the win allowing a walk and fanning one in an inning of work. CF Ryan Patterson had four hits for Wichita in the loss.

St. Paul 4, Fort Worth 0

Saints starting pitcher Donald Brandt faced just three more than the minimum Tuesday night, hurling a three-hit shutout against Fort Worth while striking out five Cats batters. Brandt retired 19 of 20 batters at one point, and when Cats 1B Trent Lockwood did manage to finesse a walk out of the St. Paul star of the night, Brandt forced Brandon Tripp to ground into a double play. Brandt is now 3-0 on the season with a 0.82 ERA. Offensively, St. Paul stretched a 1-0 lead into a four-run advantage thanks to a two-run error in the seventh. But the first Saints run ‚¬" scored in the third inning ‚¬" was plenty of run support for Brandt.

Fargo-Moorhead 6, Winnipeg 5 (10 innings)

Fargo-Moorhead made Winnipeg pay for an extra-innings error, when DH Jesse Hoorelbeke batted Michael Coles to win the game for the RedHawks. It was Hoorelbeke's only hit of the night. Coles reached first on an inning-opening miscue by the Winnipeg defense. After trailing the entire night, Winnipeg tied the game on a Wes Long RBI single with two outs in the top of the ninth. Long finished the contest 2-4 with three RBI. RedHawks reliever Aaron Harstock picked up the win after throwing the final 1.1 innings and allowing one run on one hit and a walk.

Grand Prairie 7, Sioux City 2

Grand Prairie DH Greg Porter scored twice and batted in a run on a 3-4 night, meaning the native of Keller, TX, was responsible for more offense the entire Explorers' lineup. Trailing 7-0 in the final inning, Sioux City escaped the clutches of a shutout but couldn't make up the difference. Grand Prairie starting pitcher Jason Jennings handed the ball off to the bullpen after five shutout innings, allowing four hits and a walk while striking out five. And the AirHogs relievers didn't let him down, leaving Jennings with the win in his first start of the season.

Amarillo 9, Sioux Falls 7

The Sox fended off a pesky, come-from-behind Sioux Falls offense Tuesday night, answering each comeback attempt with runs of their own and finished the night with a two-run win. The Sox tied the score twice and pulled ahead by one run in the sixth. But Amarillo 1B Chris Nash opened the bottom of the frame with a solo home run that spurred on his teammates to a four-run inning that put the Sox on top for good. Nash went 3-4 on the night with two runs and an RBI. Pheasants 3B Trevor Lawhorn scored three runs on a 2-3 night.

Kansas City 3, Lincoln 1 (Suspended - Bottom 7)

The game was suspended due to rain with Kansas City leading Lincoln 3-1 with zero outs in the bottom of the seventh inning. The game is scheduled to be finished at 11 a.m. with Wednesday's scheduled game to be played immediately after completion.

El Paso 21, Shreveport-Bossier 4 (In progress - Top 9)

El Paso put three runs on the board in the first and hasn't looked back against Shreveport-Bossier. Diablos 1B Kyle Nichols is one of four El Paso batters with four hits. Nichols also has four runs and four RBI. Diablos starting pitcher David Wingham seems poised for the win after giving up three runs on four hits and a walk with eight strikeouts over seven innings.
