Amarillo Venom News Release
AMARILLO, TEXAS - Football players from across the country are coming to Amarillo today as the Amarillo Dusters begin their 2008 training camp.
"Training camp is an important part of any arena football team season, and we are ready to put the new Amarillo Dusters to work," said head coach Chris MacKeown.
Training camp will consist of 15 days of practices, team meetings, scrimmages, and watching game film in preparation for the season. The Dusters will travel to Tulsa to face the Talons for their first game on March 29.
"We will be facing a lot of tough opponents this season," MacKeown said. "We will be taking advantage of every opportunity we have during training camp to prepare for the upcoming battles."
Fans are invited to come to practice to see the 2008 team take shape. Practices will be at Bushland High School and the Amarillo Civic Center.
Victor Hall, line coach for the Amarillo Dusters, said that he is excited about the players that they recruited because they are bigger, faster and stronger.
"We want to get off on the right track and get some confidence in front of home field fans," Hall said. "We will be more competitive this year across the board."
Joe Morgado, vice president for the Dusters, said that he would love to see Amarillo support the Dusters like they never have before.
"Having a professional football team is not something that many cities can claim," Morgado said. "Amarillo is fortunate to be one of the few cities in the country that has football year-round. Football doesn't end with the Superbowl, it's just getting started."
The Amarillo Dusters season starts soon. Don't miss a single action-packed second! Get your season tickets today by calling the box office at (806) 350-7277 or visiting www.dustersfootball.com.
