Windsor, CO 11/11/09 - The Amarillo Gorillas could not dig out of an early period deficit and fell to the Colorado Eagles Wednesday night 6-3.
Colorado would hop on the scoreboard first when forwards Steve Haddon and Ryan Tobler scored their fourth and third goals on the year. Amarillo's Jason Beeman answered for the Gorillas, walking the puck to the top of the Colorado crease unabated and hammering home his second goal on the season. Colorado struck back, scoring twice more in the final five minutes of play when Kevin Ulanski notched his fifth and sixth markers on the year. After one period of play, Colorado 4 Amarillo 1.
The Eagles would score a historic goal in the second period. Forward Riley Nelson notched his fourth goal of the season and 208th career Colorado goal, passing Greg Pankewicz's for the Eagles' all-time goal lead. Amarillo's Chris Cloud would give the Gorillas a boost, tangling with Colorado's Alex Penner three minutes into the period. At the end of two, Colorado 5 Amarillo 1.
The power-play would come alive for the Gorillas when Jake Morissette and Gordon Bell notched two man advantage markers in the frame. Colorado's Adam Hogg gave Colorado their sixth goal of the game at the 13:13 mark. Final score Colorado 6 Amarillo 3.
Colorado's Kevin Ulanski has recorded 2 goals in his last two games (both versus Amarillo).Gorillas forward Jason Beeman earned his second goal in only his third game this season.Amarillo attempts to draw their road record to 3-3 tomorrow night at Texas.
