Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Brandon, Manitoba -- The Brandon Wheat Kings' Alumni Association has unveiled plans for its Second Annual Golf Tournament, to be held on Thursday, August 5th at Oak Island Golf Resort.
The Tournament, which will be open to the public, will serve as the Alumni's major fundraising initiative for 2010. Proceeds from the event, which will be held annually, will go to the Wheat Kings' Scholarship Fund.
The Wheat Kings' Alumni announced in 2008 that after serving as one of the Presenting Sponsors of the Sly Open Golf Tournament in recent years, the Association would assume operations of the tournament this summer. One hundred golfers, including a number of former players attended the 1st Annual event last summer.
The daylong event will begin with a breakfast at Four Seasons Island Resort, to be followed by the Tournament. A banquet will then be held to cap off what will be a busy day at Oak Island Golf.
This year's Tournament will be chaired by Mark Kolesar, with the assistance of the Alumni Executive and other Alumni members.
Designed by Les Ferber, one of Canada's most prolific golf course architects, Oak Island golf resort exemplifies all the best Manitoba has to offer. The A-4 bentgrass greens provide one of the best putting surfaces available.
Entry fee is $150, which will include green fees, golf cart rental, breakfast, dinner, a gift from the Alumni Association as well as a chance to win some terrific prizes.
To enter this year's prestigious event, or for more information on Sponsorship opportunities call the Wheat Kings' office at 726-3535 or go online to www.wheatkings.com.
