Montreal Alouettes News Release
Montreal, March 18, 2013 - The Alouettes announced on Monday the signing of import receiver Brandon London to a new three-year deal with the club.
London (6'4", 210 lbs.) enjoyed his best season to date in 2012, posting career-highs in receptions (43), receiving yards (843), and touchdowns (3) despite playing in only 12 games due to injury. London was also the Alouettes' third-leading receiver last season.
In his first year as a starter, the Richmond, VA native emerged as the main deep threat in the Alouettes' offensive schemes, averaging a team-high 19.6 yards per reception. The 28-year-old also topped the 100-yard mark in five games, including a personal best 170 yards on nine receptions against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in Week 14.
"Brandon had that so-called breakout season last year, unfortunately he didn't get to finish it due to injury. We expect he will pick up were he left off. He gives our team a lift and has really become that guy you can count on in a crunch," said Alouettes General Manager Jim Popp.
London, who is entering his fourth season with Montreal, recorded at least one reception in each of his games played in 2012 and contributed on special teams, recording a fumble recovery on August 3 against Winnipeg.
The product of the University of Massachusetts won the Super Bowl as a practice squad member of the New York Giants in 2007 and a Grey Cup with the Alouettes in 2010.
