Alouettes celebrate St. Patrick's Day

Montreal, Mar. 15, 2005 - For a 10th consecutive year, fans will get to see their favourite Alouettes parading down Ste. Catherine St. as part of Montreal's annual St. Patrick's Day Parade this Sunday. The parade starts at noon and will feature, amongst many other floats, the Alouettes' players, cheerleaders and mascots side by side with a group of minor football players.

Once again this year, two all-utility Swiss-Austrian Pinzgauer trucks will transport tackle Uzooma Okeke, linebackers Michael Botterill and Phillip Gauthier, receivers Dave Stala and Shaun Diner, free safety Matthieu Proulx and kicker Damon Duval as well as cheerleaders Anabel, Marie-Noëlle, Nadine, Jessica and Alexandra, mascot Touché and the young football players.

The Alouettes elected to showcase minor football in this year's parade. The kids parading along with their Alouette heroes were selected from those who participated in the Alouettes' youth programs including the Alouettes' Junior Camps and the Alouettes Classic.

Montreal will celebrate its Irish roots and the coming of spring for a 182nd year. From its humble beginnings to today, this event has become a 'must see' for over 600,000 spectators annually. Featuring colourful floats, mascots, bands, and more span the entire length of the parade, the parade is one of the best family-oriented events the city has to offer and the Alouettes are proud to participate.

This year's edition of Montreal's St. Patrick's Day Parade is scheduled to start at 12 p.m. on Sunday, Mar. 19. at the corner of Ste. Catherine and St-Marc and will wrap up at St. Urbain St.
