
Grey Cup tickets go on sale

WINNIPEG, MB (March 15, 2006)- The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced today that individual tickets for the 2006 Grey Cup, to be held Nov. 19 at Canad Inns Stadium in Winnipeg, will go on sale to the general public SATURDAY, MARCH 18 beginning at 10 a.m. (Central).
Grey Cup tickets will be available for purchase through all local Ticketmaster outlets or by contacting Ticketmaster on-line at www.ticketmaster.ca.
The theme for this year's Grey Cup is Magic on the Prairies. Visitors will be treated to a week of celebrations leading up to the big game including the CFL Player Awards, Grey Cup Parade, four nights of entertainment at the Winnipeg Convention Centre, a Gala Grey Cup Dinner, a major concert at the MTS Centre and the CFL Fan Experience.
The 2006 Grey Cup will mark only the third time Winnipeg has played host to the CFL championship game.
On Nov. 24, 1991 the game feature Rocket Ismail's 87-yard punt return which powered the Toronto Argonauts' 36-21 win over the Calgary Stampeders. With an ownership group featuring Wayne Gretzky and John Candy, the Argos brought a touch of Hollywood glitz to the first ever Grey Cup game hosted by the city of Winnipeg.
Lord Earl of Grey's prized chalice returned to Winnipeg on Nov. 22, 1998, when the city played hosted to the 86th Grey Cup. Under mainly sunny skies and balmy 10 degree Celsius temperatures, Calgary Stampeders kicker Mark McLoughlin booted a 35-yard field goal with time expired to give the Stamps a dramatic 26-24 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
