MANCHESTER, NH – The Manchester Monarchs (AHL), the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings (NHL), today announced that Jason Allison is one of several celebrities expected to attend the second annual Ace Bailey Golf Classic, scheduled for Monday, June 30 at the Manchester Country Club in Bedford, NH. Allison, 28, was acquired by the Kings in a multi-player deal with the Boston Bruins (NHL) on October 24, 2001. The centerman finished sixth on the Kings in scoring last season (6-22=28) even though he appeared in only 26 games because of injuries. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound native of North York, Ontario led the Kings in scoring (19-55=74) and finished second in the NHL in assists during the 2001-02 season, a season in which he was honored as the Kings Most Valuable Player.

Throughout his 10-year NHL career, Allison has consistently demonstrated his dedication to giving back to the community. The "Jason Allison KINGPIN Bowling Bash" debuted on December 2, 2002, with proceeds from the event going to the Allison Family Foundation. The foundation helps "deserving children and their families" in conjunction with the L.A. Kings hockey club and the Kings Care Foundation.

"We're thrilled to have Jason and all of the other sports celebrities at this year's Ace Bailey Golf Classic," said Monarchs President Jeff Eisenberg. "Ace was a special part of the organization. His joy and fun-loving spirit touched us all. The tournament allows us to celebrate his life and preserve his memory."

The Ace Bailey Golf Classic is held annually at the Manchester Country Club. The tournament, hosted by the Ace Bailey Children's Fund and the Monarchs Care Foundation, honors the memory of Garnet "Ace" Bailey, who served as the Kings Director of Pro Scouting until his death on September 11, 2001. Ace was a passenger aboard United Flight 175 and was lost in the tragic events of the day. The goal of the tournament is to raise funds for Ace's Place, a professionally staffed children's playroom at the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston, MA. Last year's tournament, which included 18-holes of golf, a first-class dinner and a live and silent auction featuring memorabilia from some of the biggest names in sports, netted over $45,000 for the Ace Bailey Children's Fund and the Monarchs Care Foundation.

Along with Allison, this year's tournament will include Kings Assistant General Manager/Monarchs General Manager Kevin Gilmore, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough, Monarchs Head Coach Bruce Boudreau, Monarchs Assistant Coach Bobby Jay and Monarchs goaltender Travis Scott. Former hockey greats like Brad Park, Gerry Cheevers, Pete Mahovlich, Terry Murray, Gordie Clark, Gord Kluzak, Rick Middleton, Ken Hodge, Don Marcotte, Gary Doak and Steve Kasper are also scheduled to attend, along with UNH Head Coach Dick Umile. Team officials expect several other sports celebrities to be added to the field in the coming days.
