San Antonio Missions News Release

Austin Allen's bases-loaded walk in the 10th gave San Antonio a thrilling 4-3 win over Corpus Christi Tuesday night in front of 4,931 at Wolff Stadium.

Earlier in the evening however, it did not appear the Missions would need extras.

Though Logan Allen does not usually require much offensive support in his starts, he certainly received it early Tuesday night. The Missions jumped fellow lefty Brett Adcock for three runs in the first with Ty France's RBI-single to left center and a two-RBI double from first baseman Kyle Overstreet.

With an early 3-0 lead, Allen continued to do what he had done all season...put up zeroes. The Fletcher, NC native allowed just one run in his six innings on the bump, a solo homer by catcher Lorenzo Quintana to begin the third. Allen limited the Hooks to just five hits and one walk, while punching out five.

The 3-1 lead held until the eighth when Taylor Jones came through for Corpus Christi with a clutch, game-tying two-run single off reliever Jason Jester.

After neither team scored in the ninth, the game would then head to extras, where right-hander T.J. Weir (2-0) would navigate the Missions out of the top of the 10th.

In the home half, lefty Alex Winkelman entered for the Hooks and quickly retired Josh Naylor for the inning's first out. After electing to walk France, Winkelman (4-3) allowed the Missions to load the bases on a Kyle Overstreet infield single that deflected off the hurler's glove. That set the stage for Allen, who ended the game after battling through a 10-pitch at-bat.

San Antonio (18-13, 60-41) wraps up its three-game series with Corpus Christi (20-12, 63-38) Wednesday at 7:05 PM. Righty Chris Paddack (2-1, 1.59 ERA) will get the ball for the Missions in the series finale, while the Hooks counter with southpaw Framber Valdez (3-3, 4.26).
