Jupiter Hammerheads News Release

The Jupiter Hammerheads win the game and the series after beating the Clearwater Threshers 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.

The star of the game was Brady Allen. The Hammerheads starting right fielder hit two home runs and drove in four runs to propel Jupiter to the win. It was number five and six on the season for the South Carolina Gamecock alum.

Allen's first homer came in the bottom of the third inning. Jupiter had just taken a 1-0 lead as Kahlil Watson reached on a fielder's choice. A couple of batters later, Allen belted a three-run shot over the left-field wall to quickly make it a 4-0 ballgame.

Clearwater would score a pair of runs in the fifth inning on a Kendall Simmons two-run homer. It was the fifth homer of the season for the Threshers infielder.

In the bottom of the eighth, Allen would strike again with a solo homer. The Florida native would give the Hammerheads a 5-2 cushion to enter the ninth inning.

On the mound for the Hammerheads was the reigning Florida State League pitcher of the week, Gabe Bierman. The Indiana native pitched five innings and allowed two runs, both on the Simmons homer. The righty struck out four batters and allowed just three hits on the afternoon.

After Bierman, the Hammerheads bullpen strung together four scoreless innings. First, it was Yeuris Jimenez, who allowed just one hit in his lone inning of work. The righty now holds a 1.45 ERA on the season. Next was Jake Schrand, who pitched two frames for Jupiter. The Ohio native struck out two and allowed two hits. To close out the game, the Hammerheads turned to Patrick Murphy. Making just his third appearance with Jupiter, Murphy pitched a scoreless ninth and picked up his first save of the season.

With the win, the Hammerheads clinched the series, winning four of the six games against the Threshers. Next week, their attention turns to their RDCS neighbors, the Palm Beach Cardinals. Jupiter will serve as the away team for the upcoming series.
