Allen Americans News Release
ALLEN, Texas - The Allen Americans are set for Game Seven of the Southern Conference Finals tonight against the Odessa Jackalopes. The series-deciding contest begins at 7:05 p.m. in Odessa. The winner will be crowned the Southern Conference Champion.
Allen defeated the Laredo Bucks April 7 to win their first playoff series in franchise history. The expansion club is 2-0 in games where it faced elimination.
The Jackalopes lost last year in Game Seven of the Southern Conference Finals to the eventual league champion, the Texas Brahmas.
The history of Game Seven in the CHL is a bit divided. There are no clear-cut trends that favor the home team, the road team, the team that won the night before, etc. In fact, the last 11 CHL game sevens, the home team is 7-4.
Most of the games stay tight, as six of 11 have been decided by one goal, and three of them have gone into overtime. The visitors have won two of those three overtime contests.
The Jacks have played in the Southern Finals in three of the last five seasons, losing in 2006 to Laredo and last season to Texas.
Boston's Gourmet Pizza in McKinney is hosting a watching party for fans wishing to watch the game live. There will be an extended happy hour, as well as a food discount for fans wearing Americans apparel. There will be games and prizes for fans on hand.
Fans unable to go to the watching party can watch through CHL-TV, available online by visiting chltv.insinc.com. For free audio, fans can listen live on Sports Juice, which can be accessed by visiting www.sportsjuice.com. As always, live score updates will be posted on the Americans Facebook (www.facebook.com/allenamericans) and Twitter (www.twitter.com/allenamericans) pages. For live box score updates, go to www.pointstreak.com.
The winner of the series will play the Rapid City Rush or the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, whichever team can emerge victorious tonight in Game Seven of the Northern Conference Finals. That contest starts at 7:35 p.m. Central Standard Time.
