Amarillo Dillas News Release
ALEXANDRIA, LA - Alexandria Aces starter Frank James Jr. came into Tuesday's game with the United League's second best ERA at 2.50. He probably won't be second any more as he was bested by Amarillo Dillas starter Taylor Allen who went an out past seven innings and struck out six in a 6-4 win over the Aces at Bringhurst Field in front of 1,935 fans.
Allen (8-5) got his team-leading eighth win as he allowed only three runs and seven hits in the effort. James (6-3) lost his second game to the Dillas as he went an out past four innings in giving up five runs and ten hits. Justin Wenger went 3-4 with a run scored in the effort.
Amarillo took the lead in the first inning. Jordan Ramos walked to lead off, Wenger doubled to put two runners in scoring position, Carlos Figueroa grounded out to score Ramos while Danny Bravo singled home Wenger for a two-run lead.
In the second, Brett Donahoo led off with a single, Josh Ashton doubled to score Donahoo, while Ashton scored on a Ramos single for a 4-0 Dillas advantage.
After a Josh Tranum solo homerun and a Bryan Sabatella RBI single brought the score within two, Amarillo would bring home another run as Donahoo singled to score Bravo from second to lead by three. The Dillas would score once more in the sixth as Gary Schneidmiller walked, advanced to second on a Brett Donahoo walk, went to third on a Jack Chapman fielder's choice and scored on a wild pitch to give Amarillo a 6-2 lead.
Alexandria's Palmer Karr Jr. hit a two-run homerun in the eighth to bring the deficit to two, but Drew Jackson finished off the side in the ninth to preserve the 6-4 win for Amarillo.
With the win, the Dillas improve to 13-8 on the second-half of the season and 39-32 overall. Wednesday, the Dillas will take on the first-place Aces for the third game of a four-game series at 10:35 am with Dillas Pre-Game set to begin at 10:20 pm on 1010 AM The Canyon and online via AudioSportsOnline.com.
