Allen, Moore July Players of the Month

DURHAM, NC -- The American Association of Independent Professional Baseball announced that Fort Worth Cats OF John Allen and Sioux Falls Pheasants RHP Ben Moore have been named the Rawlings Batter and Pitcher of the Month for July. The selection was made by Pointstreak, the official statistician of the American Association.

In 26 games, Allen hit .413 with five home runs and 33 RBIs. He scored 21 runs, collected 43 hits and walked 11 times. Allen's on-base percentage for July was .470 and his slugging percentage was .654. The Flower Mound, TX resident is currently batting .312 with 11 home runs and 57 runs batted in. Allen won Batter of the Week honors for the week ending July 17.

The 29-year-old outfielder has spent most of his six year professional career with the Cats. He spent part of 2007 with the Brockton Rox of the Can-Am League.

Moore posted a perfect 4-0 record with a 2.00 ERA in July (five starts). In 36 innings pitched, he gave up eight earned runs on 21 hits with 10 walks and 32 strikeouts. Moore's opponents batting average was .168. On the season, The St. Croix Falls, WI resident is currently 10-2 with an earned run average of 2.39. Moore leads the league in strikeouts (95) and ERA and second in wins. He also won Pitcher of the Week honors for the week ending July 24.

The 30-year-righty has pitched in Sioux Falls the past three plus seasons. Moore also has played with Calgary, Winnipeg and Joliet along with time in the New York Yankees organization.
