Allen Keeps Firm Grip on #1 Spot on Yellowbook CHL Coaches Poll

TEMPE, AZ (March 2, 2011) - Once again, the Allen Americans find themselves on top of the Yellowbook CHL Coaches Poll marking the sixth consecutive week they have been voted the league ‚¬â„¢s #1 team. The Americans pace the CHL with a 38-12-2 record and 78 points. Allen has already clinched a berth in the post-season and have a 15 point lead in the Berry Conference.

The Yellowbook CHL Coaches Poll is released on or near the beginning and middle of each month throughout the regular season. Each first place vote receives 10 points, second place votes earn nine points, etc.

The #2 and #3 teams remain unchanged with Rapid City claiming the second spot and Colorado sitting in the third spot. The rest of the top five shifted a bit with Bloomington moving up from the #5 spot to the #4 spot and the Texas Brahmas climbing up two spots from #7 to #5. The Wichita Thunder dropped the most in the current poll dropping from #4 to #10. The Rush, Eagles and PrairieThunder have all clinched playoff spots.

The Tulsa Oilers, winners of five straight games, moved up the most of any CHL club climbing from the #10 spot to #7.

All 10 teams on the CHL Coaches Poll remained the same from the poll released in mid February.

The Americans earned 14 first place votes and the Rush were selected four times as the number one team.
