
All-Star HBCU Bowl Provides Omaha with Speed and Size

OMAHA, NE: The Omaha Beef have signed now seven players from the HBCU Bowl for the 2012 season. The HBCU Bowl is only in its third year and is the nation's premier senior all-star game and selects the 100 draft eligible seniors (including 10 alternates) from MEAC, SWAC, SIAC, and CIAA. There were 42 schools represented in 2010, and over 50 NFL players have been produced through both draft picks and free agents. The seven players that have experienced the HBCU bowl and have signed with the Beef are: Marquez Hall, Qier Hall, Thomas Harris, Marquiste Ramos, Jason Thompson, Isaac West, and Terrael Williams Jr.
Marquez Hall (CB) 5'8", 175 pounds, played at Tennessee State University, where he received TSU's Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie Defensive Back Award, registered 41 tackles (30 solo, 11 assists), 1.5 tackles for loss for a total of four yards, one interception, led the team in pass break-ups and pass deflections tallying nine pass break-ups and 10 pass deflections. In 2010 he participated in the HBCU bowl, and in 2011 he played with the BC Lions.
Qier Hall (CB) 6'1", 185 pounds, played at Florida A&M University where he was named to the 2010 SBN Sports College All-American Team. He finished his 2010 season as the Rattlers leading tackler with 59 tackles, 4.5 tackles for a loss of 46 yards, one sack for a loss of 6 yards, one interception return for 24 yards, one fumble recovery return for 30 yards, and 8 pass break-ups, earning him First Team All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Honors. He participated in the 2010 HBCU bowl.
Thomas Harris (WR), 6'0", 175 pounds, played at Alabama A&M University where he was the school's career leader with 205 receptions, 3,259 yards and 23 touchdowns. In 2009, Harris set team-bests with 56 receptions, 808 yards and seven touchdowns. He was also named first team all-conference. In 2008, he led the Southwestern Athletic Conference with 72 catches for 1,208 yards and was a second team all-conference selection. He was selected for the 2009 HBCU Bowl West roster.
Marquiste Ramos (DL), 6'7", 260 pounds, played at Florida A&M University where, in 2009, he recorded 19 tackles, 2.5 tackles for a loss of 18 yards, 1.5 sacks for a loss of 15 yards, one force fumble and quarterback hurry in the nine games that he played in. He was also selected for the 2010 HBCU bowl with several other FAMU teammates, including Qier Hall.
Jason Thompson (OL), 6'5", 290 pounds, played at Fort Valley State University. He was selected as a 2010 SIAC All-Conference Defensive Lineman. He also was selected for the Third team defense for the Don Hansen All-Region team. He was selected for the 2010 HBCU bowl.
Isaac West (WR), 6'1", 210 pounds, played at Florida A&M University and started in all 11 games in 2009. He was the leader in receiving yards with 641 yards on 36 catches with two TD's, ranking him third in the conference in receiving yards at 58.6 yards per game. He was selected for the 2010 HBCU East roster.
Terrael Williams Jr (OL), 6'8", 345 pounds, played at Jackson State University where he was named to the 2010 preseason All-SWAC second team. In 2010 he helped JSU quarterback finish the season 2nd in the NCAA with 3,436 yards passing. Williams was selected for the 2010 HBCU bowl.
The 3rd annual HBCU All-Star Bowl will be played at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta on December 18th, 2011. With three players taken in the 2011 NFL draft, the game also had record high 32 players to sign free agent contracts with league teams. The Omaha Beef hope to achieve a championship with these outstanding players combined with IFL veterans.
