Memphis Xplorers News Release

Southaven, MS-The Memphis Xplorers have been re-assigned DS Dahnel Singfield by the league office.

Singfield was with the Xplorers in their 2004 playoff season. He recorded 78 total tackles, 58 of which were solo. His seven interceptions were tied for eighth overall in the league. Singfield also blocked a kick in 2004. Singfield led the league in passes defended with 42 breakups, the single season record in Xplorer franchise history

"Dahnel Singfield is a one of the most talented defensive specialists I have seen play at this level," commented Xplorers Head Coach Danton Barto. "I am very excited today to be reassigned Dahnel. I believe that he will be one of the most dominating coverage guys in the af2. He was a huge part of our success last season, especially as we made our playoff run down the stretch. This is a huge assignment for this team."

Memphis Director of Player Personnel Chris Bauer shared in the enthusiasm of Barto, adding "Singfield put together numbers last season that make you wonder why he is not playing at the AFL or even NFL level. If he is even close to his production from last season, there is no reason that we shouldn't have the best pass defense in the league."

Bauer has known Singfield since he they were both with the now defunct Mohegan Wolves of the af2. "This is a guy that I have seen develop into one of the best middle guys in all of the league. We are shocked here in Memphis that his production has not propelled him to the next level. Each season I have seen him produce more and continue to get better. He brings us one of the final pieces of the ArenaCup puzzle."

Singfield was one of three members of all-af2 teams from the 2004 Xplorers. The other two, OL/DL Joseph Crear and OS Kevin Prentiss, were assigned by Memphis earlier this off-season.

The Xplorers were ten game winners in their 2004 playoff season. The Pyramid Arena in Memphis will be the official site of the 2005 training camp. The Xplorers home opener is April 15th at the DeSoto Civic Center. For group and season ticket information call 662-393-3761. Memphis Xplorers Arena Football! Back in Black!
