
Alex Blackford Named Pitcher of the Week

Little Rock, AR - The Texas League announced, Monday, that Arkansas Travelers RHP Alex Blackford was named Pitcher of the Week for the week ending 4/24.
In Blackford's start against the Springfield Cardinals on April 22, the 25-year-old worked 5.2 scoreless innings and allowed one hit with two walks and eight strikeouts. The Centennial, CO native retired 16 of the final 17 batters he faced.
In three starts this season, Blackford is 2-0 with a 0.57 ERA (one earned run, 15.2 IP). He has surrendered six hits with five walks and 20 strikeouts. Opponents have been held to a .113 batting average.
Blackford was selected by the Angels in the 37th round of the 2013 draft out of Arizona State University.
