Albany Firebirds News Release

Albany, N.Y., June 3, 2004 – The Albany Conquest arenafootball2 team have announced their top three reasons why their game against the Cape Fear Wildcats on Sunday (June 6) at 12 p.m. Noon at the Pepsi Arena in Albany, N.Y. is the hottest ticket in the Capital Region.

3. Sunday's game at Noon will be part of arenafootball2's Five-Millionth Fan Celebration weekend. Going into the 2004 season, af2's all-time attendance total was at 4,479,199. Based on totals up to this point in the 2004 season and projections, the five-millionth fan should occur during this weekend's af2 games. The league, in its fifth anniversary season, has decided to celebrate the milestone event by selecting an honorary five-millionth fan at each af2 game this weekend. The winning fan at the Pepsi Arena on Sunday will receive a prize package including, but not limited to: two season tickets for the 2005 season, an authentic af2 jersey signifying the five-millionth fan and dream seats for Sunday's game.

2. The game on Sunday at Noon is Price Chopper's "Swing into Summer" event and will feature appearances by pro wrestling superstars and The ZOOperstars, hilarious inflatable animalistic performers. The pro wrestlers in attendance will be Doink the Clown, The Missing Link, and Little Genie. In addition, someone will win a free Playstation 2 Console. Also, former Albany Conquest coach Pete Costanza and former QB Ryan Vena will participate in pre-game ceremonies. Both concluded their seasons with the Columbus Destroyers of the Arena Football League last weekend. There will be a pre-game block party on Pearl Street that begins at 10 a.m. featuring a concert by Realation, a skate boarding demo, and Mike and Ike will sample candy with KISS FM 102.3.

1. On Sunday at Noon, the Albany Conquest (3-5) will face the Cape Fear Wildcats (4-3) in a Northeast Division arenafootball2 contest. The Cape Fear Wildcats have won in each of the three times these teams' have met. Albany, in last place in the four-team Northeast Division at the season's midway point, needs a victory Sunday to gain some ground in the division. Cape Fear is in second place in the division behind the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers (6-2). Cape Fear topped Albany, 70-55, in what was the first game of the season for both teams on April 10 in Fayetteville, N.C. The game will feature two of the leagues premier offensive specialists. Albany's Tony Locke and Cape Fear's Matt Burstein both have 20 receiving touchdowns this season. Locke has 42 receptions for 819 yards, while Burstein has 48 catches totaling 764 yards. Both have two kick returns for touchdowns this season. Locke has 1,474 all-purpose yards to Burstein's 1,404.

Fans interested in buying tickets can do so at the Pepsi Arena Box Office or by calling TicketMaster at (518) 476-1000. Sunday's game coincides with the June 6 on-sale date for individual single-game tickets to the Conquest home game on July 23 that features a special post-game performance by Bon Jovi.
