AKRON -- The Akron Aeros collected a season-high four home runs against the Bowie Baysox on Saturday night, 12-6 to win its second-straight against Bowie and third overall. Rodney Choy Foo (4), Jordan Brown (5), Ryan Goleski (3) and Brandon Pinckney (2) all went deep for the Aeros and drove in eight of the 12 runs for Akron.
The Baysox scored three runs off of starter Scott Lewis in the first inning, capped by a Val Majewski two-run two-out double to right-center. However, after the double he settled in and allowed just two hits and a walk over the next 4 2/3 innings.
Akron scored two in the third and three in the fourth to give Lewis a lead as he left the game after striking out the first batter of the sixth inning. However, Mariano Gomez quickly gave up two in the inning to tie the score at five.
Akron wasted little time answering Bowie's top half of the inning with five runs in the bottom of the sixth to put the game out of reach. Just to make sure, the Aeros added two more in the eighth to cap the scoring. Bowie scored one run in the ninth, but could not manage a comeback as Jim Ed Warden closed the game out in the ninth to secure the win for Gomez.
Akron and Bowie continue its four-game weekend set on Sunday afternoon at Canal Park at 2:05 p.m. before they close out the series on Monday night at 7:05 p.m.
