AirHogs Wrap Series vs. X's Sunday After Tough Loss

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - The Texas AirHogs fell to the Sioux City Explorers 14-1 Saturday evening at AirHogs Stadium. Stewart Ijames finished with two doubles, a walk and an RBI. The teams wrap the four-game set tomorrow at 6:05.

Dillon Thomas joined Ijames as the AirHogs with multiple hits. The Association MVP candidate finished with a pair of singles.

Sean Stutzman (0-1) took the loss after lasting two innings in his first start of the year. He walked five while allowing two hits and two runs (two earned). James Dykstra (7-2) earned the win for Sioux City after twirling six innings of one-run ball.

The X's were paced by Dylan Kelly, who fell just a single shy of the cycle while picking up four RBIs. Four Explorers finished the evening with multiple hits.

Du Xiaoci scored the only run of the game for Texas on an Ijames double in the fifth. The game was the first this season with acting manager Garth Iorg at the helm. The Texas starting lineup and relief corps featured several members of the Chinese national baseball program making their American Association debut. Han Jichao finished 1 for 3 and Su Guangyao completed a scoreless inning of relief.

The AirHogs (19-52) finish the series vs. the Explorers (55-17) Sunday at 6:05. RHP Justin Vernia (8-1, 3.01 ERA) is expected to start for Sioux City. RHP Miguel Rosario (1-8, 5.00 ERA) is expected to start for Texas. A live broadcast of the game will be available at mixlr.com/TXAirHogs and americanassociationbaseball.tv.
