
AirHogs Hang On for Victory

Grand Prairie, TX. Chad Gabriel powered Grand Prairie past Fort Worth going 2-4 with a homerun and three RBI as the AirHogs beat the Cats 4-3. Mike Conroy and Cesar Nicolas also contributed two hits of their own on the night's win.
The Cats got on the board in the first when Ryan Patterson walked with two outs and John Allen doubled off the wall to score him and give the Cats the early 1-0 lead.
The AirHogs would answer right back in the bottom half of the inning when Aaron Garza led of with a line drive single to centerfield. Brandon Carter grounded into a fielder's choice erasing Garza before Cesar Nicolas roped a single into left advancing Carter to second. Mike Conroy then singled past a diving first basemen to load the bases. Chad Gabriel then came through with a two RBI single up the middle to give the AirHogs the 2-1 lead.
In the fourth inning, Chad Gabriel dialed long distance for his third homerun of the season to add to the AirHogs lead making it 3-1.
The Cats would come within one run in the seventh when Cameron Blair blooped a two out single in front of the right fielder and Ryan Patterson followed with his seventh homerun to make it 4-3 AirHogs. They also threatened in the ninth getting the tying run to second with only one down but closer James Morrison was able to shut the door striking out Kelley Gulledge and getting Isa Garcia to fly out to right to end the game.
For the second consecutive night the losing pitcher of the game went the distance as Jae Jung was dealt his first loss of the season using only ninety-nine pitches while throwing a complete game, allowing nine hits, four runs, walking none, and striking out three. AirHogs starter Kieran Mattison continued his success at home picking up his fourth win of the season going six and two thirds innings, allowing six hits, three runs, and striking out one.
After an off-day on Monday the AirHogs hit the road for a three game series with the El Paso Diablos before returning home on July 3rd for a three game set with the Sioux Falls Canaries. Next Friday night's game will feature Military Night and camouflage jerseys worn by the players, as well as a FreeStuff Friday Flag Giveaway to the first 1,500 fans.
