AirHogs Drop Second Game, 8-2 to Saint Paul

Saint Paul, MN - The Grand Prairie AirHogs struggled to hit the ball on Friday night, collecting only four hits in an 8-2 loss to the Saint Paul Saints at Midway Stadium.

The Saints scored four runs in a productive third inning. With runners on first and second Scooter Jordan reached on an error by second baseman Demetirus Heath, loading the bases. Brian Sprout came up to the plate and hammered a line drive down the third base line, clearing the bases, giving St. Paul a 3-0 lead. He would score on a wild-pitch by hurler Rodney Brantley, putting the Saints up 4-0.

Saint Paul would hit their first home run of the season in the fourth, a two-run blast by Kevin Sullivan to give them a 6-0 advantage.

Grand Prairie got on the board for the first time in top of the seventh inning. With runners on first and second, J.B. Tucker came up with an RBI double to left field, making the score 6-1 in favor of Saint Paul. With a runner on third base, Marcus Thaymes booted a ground-ball at second base that brought Billie Munoz in for the AirHogs second run.

In the top of the eighth inning with two outs the Saints would get back on the board. Kevin Sullivan drilled a two-rbi-double to left field, plating both Andre Marshall and Jason Coleson to push the Saints lead to 8-2.

Rodney Brantley (0-1) was the losing pitcher for Grand Prairie. He lasted 4.0 innings surrendering six runs, five hits, one walk, and two strike-outs.

Justin Lord (1-0) had a solid outing for the Saints. He pitched 6.2 innings, allowing only two runs, on two hits, with two walks and three strike-outs. Kyle Foster pitched 2.2 innings of scoreless relief.

RHP Kieran Mattison (0-0, 0.00 ERA) will be on the mound for the AirHogs tomorrow at 7:05 PM, taking on RHP Alec Shepherd (0-0, 0.00 ERA) in the third game from Midway Stadium.
