Aigles Ride Big Inning to Series Split with Champions

June 28, 2018 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Ottawa Champions News Release

Trois-Rivieres, Que. - A four-run fourth inning was the difference in the series finale at Stade Stereo+. The Trois-Rivieres Aigles were able to ride a substantial lead after knocking those runs in, and hold off the Ottawa Champions 6-3 for a series split.

The loss drops Ottawa's record to 16-21, still sixth place in the Can-Am League standings.

The game began on a good note for Trois-Rivieres, scoring their first run on a solo blast by OF Alexi Colon in the third inning. It was the first hit of the game for TR, and made the score 1-0.

They kept that momentum going their next time up in the fourth, capitalizing on three walks from Ottawa RHP Austin Chrismon (L, 3-5) and scoring four runs. That lead held until the end of the game, when RHP Shaun Ellis came in to earn his first save of the season for the Aigles.

Ottawa now returns home for a brief weekend series against the New Jersey Jackals, before heading back on the road. The set includes a Canada Day matinee, and pre-holiday fireworks on Saturday night.

Tickets for the CANADA DAY GAME featuring Ottawa Senators prospects, and the rest of the Champions schedule can be purchased by visiting www.ottawachampions.com, in-person at the RCGT Park box office, or by calling 613-745-BALL (2255).
