LOOKING AHEAD:
Seven months ago, Tampa Bay outlasted Philadelphia in a seven-game Eastern Conference Final series to earn the right to play for the Stanley Cup... On Wednesday, their top affiliates hit the ice at the St. Pete Times Forum in AHL regular-season action... Three current Phantoms â Patrick Sharp, Dennis Seidenberg and Joni Pitkanen â saw action in last year's Flyers-Lightning playoff series... While this counts as a home game for the Falcons, they are just 2-12-1-0 away from Springfield this season... Philadelphia has lost four of six (2-3-1-0) since its record 17-game winning streak, but is coming off Sunday's 5-1 win over West Division co-leader Milwaukee... Phantoms head coach John Stevens played six seasons (1990-96) in Springfield with the Indians and Falcons.
Providence and Hartford tangle in Connecticut's capital on Wednesday night for their fifth meeting of the season... Wolf Pack forward Dominic Moore leads all scorers in the season series with five points... Defenseman Jayme Filipowicz, who spent the 2003-04 season with Hartford, scored the winning goal in the Bruins' 3-2 win over the Pack on Dec. 10, part of a current five-game points streak for Providence (4-0-0-1)... That game is also Hartford's only regulation loss in its last nine games (7-1-0-1), a stretch that has allowed the Wolf Pack move within six points of league-leading Manchester in the Atlantic Division... Reigning AHL MVP Jason LaBarbera, 6-0-0 in his first six starts this year and 0-4-1 in his next five, has now won seven in a row in net for Hartford.
Chicago brings a four-game winning streak into its contest with Cincinnati at Allstate Arena on Wednesday night... Two of the Mighty Ducks' nine wins this season have come at the Wolves' expense, but Chicago took a 3-0 decision in their last meeting on Nov. 20... J.P. Vigier has tallied 18 points (7g, 11a) along with a plus-15 rating in his last 15 games for Chicago... 2004 AHL All-Star Chris Kunitz, recently back after missing 19 games with a broken jaw, has four goals and two assists in six games for the Ducks this year... Mathieu Chouinard has stopped 72 of 76 shots in three appearances for Cincinnati filling in for Ilya Bryzgalov, who is representing Russia in this week's Rosno Cup tournament in Moscow.
