Aguilar Named Player of the Week

ZEBULON, NC - The Carolina League announced the Carolina Mudcats' first baseman, Jesus Aguilar, as the league Player of the Week on Monday. The award is for the week of April 30-May 6.

The Maracay, Venezuela, native hit .458 over seven games. He finished 11-for-24 with two doubles and three home runs. Aguilar drove in six runs and scored seven times.

Aguilar is currently on an eight-game hitting streak. For the year, he leads the team with five home runs, and is second with 15 RBI. The slugger is hitting .500 (10-for-20) for the month of May.

It is the second straight week a Mudcat has earned Player of the Week honors. Jeremie Tice earned the distinction for the week of April 23-29.

The Carolina Mudcats begin a three game series at Myrtle Beach on Tuesday, May 8. The team returns home to face the Potomac Nationals for three starting May 11.Tickets are available through the box office by calling (919) 269-2287 or visiting carolinamudcats.com.
