
Aguila Grand Slam Leads Zephyrs to Victory

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico - Chris Aguila hammered a first inning grand-slam as the New Orleans Zephyrs defeated the Albuquerque Isotopes 9-7 at Isotopes Park.
Isotopes starter Fernando Nieve walked three batters in the first inning, Nick Green singled home the first run with a bloop single into centerfield. Aguila nailed a long home run over the centerfield wall and the Z's took a 5-0 lead.
Alex Sanabia pitched six innings allowed two runs on six hits and earned his sixth win of the season for the Z's. Nieve suffered the loss pitching five innings.
Donnie Murphy homered in the seventh inning to extend the Zephyrs lead to 6-2. Trent Oeltjen homered and led the Topes with three hits and three RBI.
Nick Green smashed a ninth inning home run and the Zephyrs tacked on three insurance runs to take a 9-2 lead.
The Isotopes rallied with five ninth inning runs sending nine batters to the plate. New Orleans reliever Rob Delaney entered the game without allowing a run in his last ten appearances. He allowed five runs on six hits in one inning of work. With tying run at the plate Delaney induced Luis Cruz to pop up for the final out.
Aguila moved into second place all-time in Zephyrs home runs moving ahead of Daryle Ward with his 54th career home run. J.R. Phillips is the team leader with 56 home runs. Aguila also played his 281st career game with New Orleans moving him into a ninth place tie with Alan Zinter.
Game Notes - Mike Cervenak extended his 13 game hit streak with 1x4 performance. The grand-slam for the Zephyrs, was the second of the season. Tuesday's game was the 72nd game of the season, the mid way point. It was the first time since 2007 New Orleans has a winning record at the half. The Z's captured the division title that season with an identical 38-34 record. The Zephyrs are 4-2 on the trip
