The Drive for Five...The Aeros will try to get back on the field for the first time since Saturday this morning, as rainouts have postponed Akron's last four games (Sunday in Bowie and every day so far here in Altoona). RHP Hector Rondon, who hasn't pitched since last Tuesday, will start game one of today's doubleheader with reliever Erik Stiller making his second spot-start of the season in game two. And while this may be the kiss of death, the forecast calls for clear skies.
Welcome Back...The Aeros have regained the services of Opening Day 3B Jared Goedert who was sidelined close to three weeks with a strained right oblique, but have lost regular 2B Josh Rodriguez with a strained right hamstring. Goedert is hitting .154 on the season, but holds a .421 on-base percentage thanks to six walks against just one strikeout. Rodriguez was off to a fantastic start before hurting his hamstring while running the bases last Wednesday in a game against Harrisburg. The native of Houston, TX was batting .314 with five RBI on the year, had more walks (15) than strikeouts (13), and was leading the Eastern League with a .478 on-base percentage. He is on the disabled list retroactive to April 30th.
Roster Move...The Aeros have lost the services of RHP Frank Herrmann, who was promoted to Class AAA Columbus yesterday. As yet there has been no corresponding move to fill his spot on the roster or in the rotation.
