Aeros Edge Marlies 2-1 in a Shootout

The Toronto Marlies were defeated by the Houston Aeros, AHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, by a score of 2-1 in a shootout this afternoon at Ricoh Coliseum.

After two scoreless periods, Aeros forward Chad Rau opened the scoring at 9:24 of the final frame. Toronto would equalize just over six minutes later on Tim Connolly's 5th goal of the season. The Marlies did not surrender a shot in overtime, but were unable to solve Aeros goaltender Matt Hackett. David McIntyre and Nick Petersen scored for Houston in the shootout, while Spencer Abbott notched the lone tally for Toronto.

Toronto will take to the ice on Wednesday night in New York when they play the Syracuse Crunch, AHL affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lighting. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. The Marlies return home on Saturday, February 23 when they host the Milwaukee Admirals, AHL affiliate of the Nashville Predators, at 3 p.m. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling the team's ticket line at 416-597-PUCK (7825).
