Aeros earn a point in 2-1 overtime loss

HOUSTON --- Matt Hackett made 24 saves and Jed Ortmeyer scored with 46 seconds left in regulation to help the Houston Aeros earn a point in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Texas Stars on Friday in front of 7,009 fans at Toyota Center.

Maxime Fortunas scored the deciding goal with 37 seconds remaining in overtime and Richard Bachman stopped 32 shots for the win.

Ortmeyer's goal came with Hackett on the bench in favor of the extra attacker and was his fifth tally of the season. Jeff Taffe and Cody Almond picked up the helpers to give the Aeros at least a standings point for the fifth consecutive game.

Scott Glennie scored at the 14:10 mark of the first period to put Texas up 1-0.

The Aeros travel to Cedar Park to take on the Stars at 7 p.m. on Saturday in the back end of a home-and-home set. After a five-game road trip, Houston returns to Toyota Center on Dec. 8 to take on Oklahoma City at 11:05 a.m.
