Akron, OH -The Akron Aeros and Binghamton Mets each received the gift of a complete game win from a starting pitcher on Wednesday evening as the teams played the second set of back-to-back doubleheaders.

The Aeros and Mets rode those strong pitching efforts to respective wins in a split of the doubleheader Wednesday at Canal Park. The Aeros won the first game, 2-0, behind lefty T.J. House, and the B-Mets took the nightcap, 5-1, courtesy of newcomer Cory Mazzoni.

In the opener, House (5-2) was masterful, twirling a two-hit shutout. House allowed a single to the first hitter he faced, Reese Havens, and then did not allow another hit until the fifth. He walked two and struck out four batters. In his second career shutout, House retired the final nine batters he faced.

The Aeros (45-26) scratched out two runs against Zack Wheeler (6-3), taking advantage of a fielding error in the second inning to score their first run, and getting an RBI groundout by Chun Chen in the third to make it 2-0.

In the nightcap, Binghamton's Cory Mazzoni made his Double-A debut, and also went the distance, holding the Aeros to five hits and one first-inning run in a 5-1 victory. Mazzoni (1-0), called up from Single-A St. Lucie (Fla.), walked one and struck out three.

With the score tied 1-1, the Mets (32-37) rallied for four runs in the fourth inning against Akron starter Frankie Jimenez (0-1), who was also making his initial start at the Double-A level.

Akron's 13-game home winning streak came to an end with the game two loss.

The Aeros and B-Mets will conclude the series and homestand on Thursday night at 7:05. RHP Gonzalez Germen (3-4, 4.05) will start for the B-Mets, while LHP Giovanni Soto (5-3, 3.99) will take the ball for the Aeros. All Aeros games are broadcast on Fox Sports 1350 AM and online at www.akronaeros.com. For more information, please call the Aeros at 330-253-5151.
