Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee, WI - Milwaukee Admirals defenseman Scott Ford scored on a breakaway and goaltender Drew MacIntyre turned aside all 28 Rivermen shots as the Admirals defeated Peoria 2-0 to earn tie a team record with their tenth straight win at home before a season high crowd of 12,453.

Ford's goal came at 16:32 of the second period came just after he exited the penalty box for a high-sticking infraction and got behind the Peoria defense. Admirals center Cal O'Reilly had possession of the puck deep in the Ads own zone, but managed to loft a pass over 100 feet right on Ford's tape. The Ads blueliner bore in on Peoria netminder Chris Holt, deeked right and then flipped a backhand over the Riverman goalie's pad.

It was Ford's second goal of the season, and both of them have come against Peoria.

Ford's marker was the lone tally of the evening for either squad until O'Reilly posted an empty-netter with 33 seconds left after Holt was pulled in favor of an extra attacker. However, with 1:18 to play it appeared that Peoria forward Charles Linglet had tied the score, but the goal was disallowed as it came after the referee had blown his whistle.

MacIntyre earned his second shutout of the season with some timely saves down the stretch, including a beautiful poke-check just in front of the crease when Peoria forward Trent Whitfield attempted to stickhandle around the Milwaukee netminder. MacIntyre was also a key cog in the Admirals penalty killing unit that was a perfect 7-for-7 on the evening.

In addition to their tenth straight at the Bradley Center, the win was also the Admirals eighth straight over the Rivermen in Milwaukee and it gave the team at least a point in eight straight games overall. Tonight's contest also concluded Milwaukee's busiest stretch of the season, seven games in the past nine nights, and gave them 13 out of a possible 14 points. The only blemish in those games was a 2-1 overtime loss to Quad City on Friday night.

The Ads will look to break the franchise record with their 11th straight home win this Thursday, January 8th at 7:00 pm.
