
Admirals Sign Parent to AHL Contract; Release Forward Collins from PTO

NOROLK, VA -- The Norfolk Admirals announced Wednesday that defenseman Ryan Parent was released from his PTO contract, and has signed an AHL standard players contract (SPC) with Norfolk. In addition, forward Chris Collins has been released from his PTO contract and will be returned to the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL.
Parent, 26, has logged an assist and ten penalty minutes in nine games played with Norfolk this season. The 6-2. 205-pound bluliner posted five assists in 56 games with the Admirals last year. Parent has totaled seven points (1g, 6a) in 106 career NHL games spent mostly with the Philadelphia Flyers. The Prince Albert, Saskatoon native was selected by the Nashville Predators in the first-round (19th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Collins, 29, was scoreless in two appearances with the Admirals last week. Collins has posted 11 points in 19 games played with Bakersfield this season. Last season, the 5-8, 185-pound winger logged four points (1g, 3a) in 24 AHL appearances split between Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (20 games) and Springfield (4 games). Collins has appeared in 190 career AHL contests registering 81 points (38g, 43a). The Fairport, New York native played collegiately at Boston College for four seasons, which included a 63-point (34g, 29a) season in 2005-06.
Norfolk plays at Charlotte on Thursday beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Admirals are back in action at Scope this Friday and Saturday against the Adirondack Phantoms. Join us for a postgame skate with the Admirals players following Saturday's game. Skates will be available for fans on a first-come-first-serve basis. Fans are encouraged to bring their own skates if they have them.
