
Admirals Release Defenseman Jeff May from Tryout

NORFOLK - The Norfolk Admirals have released defenseman Jeff May from his Amateur Tryout Contract, Admirals General Manager Mike Butters announced today.
May, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound defenseman from Richmond, British Columbia, made his professional debut with Norfolk on opening night. He appeared in three games for the Admirals and was scoreless.
Last season, May ranked fifth in assists and twelfth in scoring among WHL defenseman. In 54 games between the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Prince Albert Raiders, May netted four goals and 40 assists.
The 21-year-old had skated in 310 career WHL games between Prince Albert and Lethbridge from 2002-03 to 2007-08, scoring 19 goals and adding 124 assists with 338 penalty minutes. He also netted four goals and 13 assists with 29 penalty minutes in 44 WHL playoff games.
The Detroit Red Wings originally drafted May in the fifth round (151st overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
The Admirals next square off against the Rockford IceHogs and Grand Rapids Griffins this weekend. The Admirals and IceHogs will face off for the first time in franchise history Friday at 8:30 p.m. and Saturday at 8:05 p.m. The Admirals and Griffins will meet Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
