Norfolk Admirals News Release
NORFOLK, VA - The Norfolk Admirals have been recognized as a Virginia Beach City Public Schools Partner in Education as a result of their support of the Parkway Elementary School Boys Book Club.
The Parkway Elementary School Boys Book Club, created to combat low reading test scores among boys, meets once a week to read and discuss books. The club attended an Admirals practice on March 19 where they met with Admirals players. The players shared their favorite books from growing up and also told the boys what they enjoyed reading when traveling to and from games on the team bus. The players later autographed and donated books to the club.
Last week, Parkway Principal Nanocie Diggs and Reading Specialist Grier Crosby presented Admirals Director of Community Relations Millie Lomax with a plaque in recognition of the Admirals' support of the Boys Book Club.
The twentieth season of Admirals hockey starts this October. Don't miss a minute of the action by purchasing your 2008-09 season tickets today. Stop by the Admirals' Administrative Offices at Scope or call (757) 640-1212 weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or visit norfolkadmirals.com anytime
