
Admirals Fall to Stars 5-3

Milwaukee, WI-The Milwaukee Admirals surrendered a pair of power-play tallies and dropped their second straight game by a 5-3 score to the Texas Stars on Sunday afternoon at the Bradley Center. The loss was the second straight for the Admirals after they earned points in six consecutive games to begin he year.
Texas winger Tomas Vincour broke a 3-3 tie with just 3:35 to play with a cannon of a slapshot that got by Ads netminder Jeremy Smith.
The Ads jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when rookie defenseman Ryan Ellis unloaded on a slap shot from the top of the right circle just 2:23 into the game. Mark Van Guilder and Ryan Flynn assisted on the play.
Texas used their league-best power-play to tie the game up with 3:04 left in the first. Ray Sawada carried the puck into the Admirals zone and then fanned on a wrister. However, the Ads were unable to poke the puck away and Sawada quickly regrouped and sent off another wrister that beat Smith top shelf.
Milwaukee regained the lead with just 56 seconds to play in the first stanza with a beautiful display of puck handling by Van Guilder. Gabriel Bourque had the puck on the right wall and chipped a pass to Van Guilder, who was coming down the middle. With the puck on the right dot, Van Guilder stickhandled around a Stars defenseman and then got off a quick little wrister that beat Stars goalie Richard Bachman five-hole.
The Stars tied the score and took the lead in short order to begin the third period as rookie Matt Fraser earned his eighth goal of the year at 2:20 and then Travis Morin lit the lamp at 4:14 to give Texas a 3-2 advantage.
However, the Admirals responded at the 7:02 mark to knot the score at three. Defenseman Victory Bartley ripped a slopshot from the from the left point that was deflected by Zack Stortini and past Bachman.
After Vincour put the Stars ahead Milwaukee pulled Smith in favor of an extra attacker, but Francis Wathier spoiled any hopes of evening the score with an empty netter with just under a minute to go.
Van Guilder (1g-1a), Ellis (1g-1a), and Bourque (2a) all tallied multi-point games to pace the offense, while Smith made 25 saves and suffered his first regulation/OT loss of the season.
The Ads are off until next Friday, November 4th when they host the Charlotte Checkers for the first time at the Bradley Center. Puck drops at 7:00 pm.
