Binghamton Senators News Release
HERSHEY, P.A. - The Binghamton Senators fell to the East Division rival Hershey Bears 3-2 at the Giant Center on Sunday evening. Jacob Micflickier led the offense for the Bears recording a goal and adding a pair of assists. Two of the three goals for Hershey came on the power play.
Graham Mink put the hometown Bears on the scoreboard first. Frank Lessard was sent to the penalty box to serve a hooking minor at 2:36 of the opening period. Just one second into the ensuing power play, Mink tipped home a Keith Aucoin shot to give Hershey a 1-0 lead.
Bears' captain Boyd Kane doubled the lead to 2-0 as he stuffed home a rebound at 5:51 of the second period.
With Tim Conboy in the box for cross-checking, Micflicker converted a feed from Mink at 16:06 of the second, earning the Bears their second power play tally of the night and giving his team a commanding 3-0 lead.
The B-Sens would finally get on the board with just 52.3 seconds remaining in the middle frame. Wacey Hamilton fired home his first professional goal to bring Binghamton within a pair, 3-1.
Andre Petersson brought Binghamton within striking at 15:37 of the third as he scored his second of the season on a rebound. Mike Radja and Shaun Heshka received credit for assists on the play, their first points as Binghamton Senators. The Bears however would hold on for the 3-2 victory, much to the delight of the 10,319 fans in attendance.
In all, Hershey went 2 for 6 on the power play. Binghamton was 0 for 3 with the man advantage.
Mike McKenna started in goal for Binghamton stopping 29 of 32 shots as he fell to 1-3-0 on the season. His counterpart Braden Holtby turned away 19 of 21 to improve to 3-3-0.
The B-Sens travel to Albany on Wednesday to take on the Devils at 7 p.m. Fans can listen live on "Binghamton's Classic Hits" BIG 107.5 (WBBI-FM) beginning 30 minutes before game time for Countdown to Faceoff with Grady Whittenburg, the voice of the B-Sens.
