Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Cedar Park, TX--Jack Campbell stopped 23 shots to lead the Texas Stars to a 3-1 win over the Milwaukee Admirals Wednesday in Cedar Park, TX.
Milwaukee's lone goal came with 4:27 left in regulation. Mattias Ekholm fired a wrist shot to the net from the left point that was redirected past Campbell by Mark Van Guilder. The goal was Van Guilder's second of the season. Ekholm and Kevin Henderson picked up the assists.
The Stars opened the scoring at 5:40 of the first period with a power play goal from Travis Morin. Texas' pressure had Milwaukee on its heels much of the first period. The Admirals totaled only five shots on goal and didn't record one in the first 12 minutes.
The Admirals bounced back in the second period and outshot the Stars, but the team was unable to get a shot past Texas netminder Campbell.
The game-winner was scored by defenseman Jamie Oleksiak at 10:46 of the third period. Oleksiak fired a wrister past Admirals goalie Jeremy Smith after a nifty drop pass from Cody Eakin.
Texas forward Antoine Roussel added an empty-net goal with 44 seconds to play.
Texas outshot the Admirals 28-24. It was the first game in the 2012-2013 season in which Milwaukee was outshot by an opponent.
The Admirals conclude a four-game road trip Saturday night in Houston against the Aeros. Their next home contest will be on October 31st against the Charlotte Checkers.
