
Admirals Erase Two-Goal Deficit But Fall in OT

HERSHEY, Pa. - The Norfolk Admirals erased a 2-0 deficit and took a 3-2 lead late in the third period. However, the Hershey Bears tied the game with 37 seconds left in regulation and won it 4-3 in overtime on Sunday evening at Giant Center. Juraj Simek, Matt Dias and Tommy Goebel netted Norfolk's goals while Ty Wishart finished with a pair of assists.
Hershey claimed a 2-0 lead with a Kyle Wilson power play goal at 5:33 of the first period and a Darren Reid goal at 3:39 of the second period.
The Admirals cut their deficit in half at 9:19 of the second period when Juraj Simek scored off assists from Mitch Fadden and Kevin Quick. Norfolk starting goaltender Dustin Tokarski was relieved following the goal to allow Jaroslav Janus time between the pipes. Tokarski stopped 11 of 13 shots.
Norfolk knotted the score at two goals apiece 2:31 into the third period when free agent tryout forward Matt Dias scored. Defenseman Ty Wishart picked up the lone assist on the play.
The Admirals went ahead 3-2 as tryout forward Tommy Goebel scored at 12:46 of the final frame. Wishart picked up his second assist of the period and Chris Lawrence also earned a helper.
However, Kyle Wilson's second goal of the game with just 37 seconds remaining knotted the score at three goals apiece. The goal was scored with Bears netminder Jason Bacashihua on the bench in favor of an extra attacker.
Boyd Kane netted the overtime game-winner 3:22 into the extra session to give the home team a 4-3 victory.
Dustin Tokarski started the game for the Admirals and stopped 11 of 13 shots through 29:19 without receiving a decision. Jaroslav Janus came on midway through the second period and stopped 15 of 17 shots for the loss. Jason Bacashihua played the entire game for the Bears and made 24 saves on 27 shots for the win.
Norfolk was 0-6 on the power play. Hershey was 1-5.
The Admirals will return home for practice this week before heading back to Hershey for the regular season opener on Saturday.
