PEORIA, Ill. (September 28, 2009) - Peoria Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced today that the club has released 15 players from training camp. They are now carrying 22 players (13 forwards, seven defensemen and two goalies).
Forwards Tomas Kana, Nick Mazzolini, John Lammers, Chris Morehouse, Jack Combs, Pat Brosnihan, Jordan Foreman, Brett Hemingway and Jason Ryznar; defensemen T.J. Fast, Alexander Hellstrom, Ryan Turek, and Justin Sawyer along with goaltenders Sebastian Dahm and Carlo Colaiacovo were all released.
Hellstrom, Turek, Dahm, Mazzolini, Morehouse, Lammers, Ryznar, Hemingway, Combs, Brosnihan and Kana will all report to the Alaska Aces (ECHL). Sawyer and Colaiacovo will report to Bloomington (IHL).
The Rivermen open the regular season on Oct. 3 when the host the Grand Rapids Griffins at 7 p.m. The first 5,000 fans will receive a Rivermen magnet schedule courtesy of Heritage Bank plus the game will feature an appearance by Marvel's Spiderman and Iron Man.
