Chicago, IL--Chris Mueller scored twice but it wasn't enough as the Milwaukee Admirals lost Tuesday night to the Chicago Wolves at Allstate Arena, 5-2.
The Wolves outshot the Admirals 37-26 and tied the Amtrak Rivalry at a game apiece.
Chicago struck first when Admirals nemesis Brett Sterling snapped a shot from the top of the right circle past Jeremy Smith at 7:14 of the first period.
The Wolves stretched the lead to 2-0 with a power play goal from Andrew Gordon at 12:27 of the first period.
Former Admirals defenseman Mark Matheson gave the Wolves a 3-0 lead with a wrist shot from the left point that cleared Smith's right shoulder at 1:02 of the second period.
The Admirals finally got on the board when Mueller deflected a shot from the left point out of mid-air past Lack for his sixth goal of the season at 4:15 of the second period.
Chicago's Jordan Schroeder gave the Wolves a 4-1 lead with a shot from the slot that pinballed into the net off the right post at 14:09 of the second frame.
Milwaukee made a goalie change at the start of the third period when Magnus Hellberg entered the crease instead of Smith. The luck changed early for Milwaukee as Juuso Puustinen scored his second goal of the season with a power play marker at 1:41. Puustinen tapped in a rebound of a Mueller shot into the net. Mattias Ekholm recorded the other assist.
The Wolves reclaimed a three-goal lead just 30 seconds later when Sterling's shot from the left circle bounced off Hellberg's right arm and into the net.
Mueller scored his second of the game and seventh of the season when he banged a rebound of a Patrick Cehlin shot past Lack. Scott Valentine picked up the second assist.
The Admirals play the fifth game of a season long seven-game road trip Friday night in Peoria. The Ads aren't home again until they host Chicago on Friday, November 30.
