
Admirals Defeat Wild 4-1

Des Moines, IA - The Iowa Wild (26-33-6-4, 62 points) was defeated by the Milwaukee Admirals (34-22-6-7, 81 points) 4-1 in front of 5,471 fans at the BMO Harris Bradley Center on Friday night. Milwaukee forward Taylor Beck scored twice and added an assist to lead his club to victory. Admirals goalie Scott Darling (12-4-2) made 23 saves for the win. Iowa goalie Johan Gustafsson (12-19-2) made 23 saves in the defeat. Forward Zack Phillips scored the team's lone goal, as Iowa fell to 15-13-3-3 on the road this year. The Wild concludes a five-game road trip on Sunday, Apr. 13 at 3 p.m. in Chicago.
Milwaukee scored the first goal of the game, opening the scoring at 5:46 of the first period. Winger Taylor Beck carried the puck down the wall along the right wing side in the Iowa zone. Beck moved into the right-wing faceoff circle and rifled a wrist shot past Johan Gustafsson for the 1-0 lead. Forward Francis Wathier picked up the lone assist on Beck's 15th goal of the year.
The Admirals used their power play to push in front 2-0 at 7:41 of the middle frame. Vinny Saponari sent a cross-ice pass to Wathier in the Milwaukee zone. The veteran winger beat Gustafsson for his eighth goal of the season. Defenseman Anthony Bitetto also added an assist on the play. The Wild cut its deficit in half at 15:41 off Zack Phillips 12th goal of the season. Defenseman Steven Kampfer fired the puck from the blueline and Phillips deflected the puck past Darling, trimming the Admirals lead to 2-1. Milwaukee regained its two-goal lead with 17 seconds remaining in the middle frame with the club's second power-play goal of the night. Forward Filip Forsberg finished off a Taylor Beck pass with a one-timer past Gustafsson. Defenseman Bryan Rodney picked up the second assist on Forsberg's 12th goal of the season for the 3-1 lead.
Milwaukee expanded its lead to 4-1 at 4:06 of the third period on Beck's second goal of the night. Beck potted a rebound for his 16th goal of the year with assists going to Wathier and Rodney.
Iowa concludes a five-game road trip on Sunday, Apr. 6 at 3 p.m. in Chicago. The team returns home for Fan Appreciation Weekend on Friday, Apr. 11 and Sunday, Apr. 13. As part of Fan Appreciation Weekend, the Wild will be handing out numerous prizes, including a team poster. Friday's game starts at 7:05 p.m. against the Chicago Wolves at Wells Fargo Arena. It marks the final $2 Beer Night of the season, presented by 100.3 The Bus (only through first period for fans 21 and over). The team is also hosting a Book Drive, benefitting the Southeast Polk School District for a summer reading program. After a road game in Rockford on Apr. 12, the team returns home on Sunday, Apr. 13 at 5:05 p.m. to host the Milwaukee Admirals. Sunday's game features the Subway Family Four Pack, which includes four tickets, four hotdogs, four sodas and four Subway BOGO (buy on get one free) coupons, starting as low as $44. Fans may also skate on the ice after the game in the final postgame skate of the year. The Wild welcomes Chicago for the final regular season home game on Wednesday, April 16 at 7:05 p.m. Fans may purchase a $5 ticket to the game by presenting a Subway receipt at the Wells Fargo box office.
